Gathering the Harvest before Thanksgiving

In preparation for Thanksgiving, comes the apples. This was about one third of our crop. Most of these went to make cider, but there were plenty for pies. I grew some pumpkins for the pumpkin pies too.

Even if the weather doesn't cooperate, we are sure to have a very enjoyable holiday this year. Turkey is not the only way to celebrate; eat what you like! Visiting friends and family is a wonderful way to share the day and to make it memorable.

The cake was decorated by a friend, the tree and crows were perfect for the season.

The inside of the tent was decorated by Emily's family. The flowers were grown by her parents and arranged by her mother, sister, friends, and the bride.

Everyone was waiting for the big event. Emily's father was so proud of his daughter.

Nate and Emily were married Saturday, October 16, 2010 amidst the apple trees, fall leaves, and some unpredictable weather with loving family and friends surrounding them.

Fall is a glorious time of year in Maine. Here are some pictures from last year and we expect the folage show to be as spectacular this year. We have fresh apple cider from our ten apple trees and we serve blueberry pancakes and organic sausage along with fried apples for your breakfast enjoyment.

Open Lighthouse Day Saturday, September 18, 2010 The U.S. Coast Guard, the State of Maine and the American Lighthouse Foundation are pleased to announce the second annual Maine lighthouse open house. Last year, hundreds of people visited lighthouses along the Maine coast in the largest effort of its kind in the nation. This year we expect another fun family event. The partnership with the Coast Guard, State of Maine and American Lighthouse Foundation is intended to increase awareness of Maine’s maritime heritage and the rich history of its lighthouses and lighthouse keepers. We are 30 minutes from Pemaquid Point Light House, it is a beautiful drive, and a great place to get lobster is on the way home. Come see us and enjoy the beauty of September in Maine.

Wedding Weekend

Maine is a beautiful place to have a wedding and this weekend was the perfect one for guests attending two different weddings. The inn was full of happy people ready to help the couples celebrate their special day. We have weddings at Clary Lake B & B every year and we have one coming up in October. It will be another beautiful time for Maine with the fall colors and the crisp air. The following is the guest review for this past weekend: Thank you so much for our second stay with you (1st in 2008). It feels like having old friends of kindred spirits. Thank you for sharing your lives and decicious breakfasts as well as listening to us go on. We look forward to coming again as I know we will. This was a perfect gathering for us siblings before we go our separate ways for a while. Thank you for providing the perfect enue for us. Clary Lake Bed and Breakfast is having a busy and fun summer. We have had guests from many places in the USA, England, Denmark, and Canada. The summer has been beautiful with just the right amount of rain and plenty of sunshine. It is the best summer since we opened the in in 2004. The flowers have been abundant and the garden has already given us asparagus, greens, peas, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, cherries, zuchini, kale, brocoli, and herbs. The corn, tomatoes, squash, pumkins, and apples for pies and cider are to come We have enjoyed sailing and taking guest sailing. Our canoe and kayaks have gotten alot of use. We will be having our third guest wedding at the inn in October and we're looking forward to getting the gardens ready for a fall wedding. We are in the process of publishing recipes from our country breakfast menu for our guest to purchase. Also we have a friend that is a photographer that has supplied us with photo cards for guest to purchase
